Dr. Wayne Hasbargen is the Founding Owner of RRVH and although he retired in 2022, he still acts as our relief Veterinarian. He graduated from Rainy River Community College with his AA in science and engineering in 1971. Following his AA, he transferred to the University of Minnesota where he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1976. Once he graduated, he moved to Vancouver, Washington and worked at the Vancouver Animal Hospital for about a year before they decided to move back home. Once they got back, Dr. Hasbargen worked for another Veterinarian for two years until he eventually purchased his motorhome which he used as a traveling clinic for about a year. While he was working out of the motorhome, they were working hard at building their home into a fully functioning clinic including a surgery room. They purchased the building that we are still in to this day, in 1980. Dr. Hasbargen’s favorite thing about RRVH is getting to interact with people and meeting old friends. He also loves working the challenging cases. A fun fact about Dr. Hasbargen is that he built a plane from scratch with his brother in 2002 which they later decided to sell. He joined a flying club in his Senior year of college and later on went to receive his pilot's license in 1995. To this day, they take pride in providing quality care to all animals in our community. His favorite animal is trained working dogs because of the service they do for humans.
Melody Nicholson, DVM
Dr. Nicholson originally started at RRVH in 2003 as a technician, then later decided to go to the University of Minnesota to pursue her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. In 2010 she returned to RRVH as a DVM! Dr. Nicholson is devoted to helping pets live healthier, happier lives! Her favorite part of the job is the people, both staff and clients. She provides care for animals but feels she couldn't do it if there wasn't a person attached to the animals. Dr. N's special interests include surgery and client education! In her free time, Dr. Nicholson loves horse camping and raised bed gardening! She has LOTS of animals that include three dogs; Tucker the Blue Heeler, Mac the 3-legged 7/8 Blue Heeler who she rescued from an after-hours emergency, and Graycee the ½ Blue Heeler; one cat that no one ever sees, 7 horses and many cows! Bottle babies are considered pets in her book! Dr. Nicholsons favorite animal happens to be her 3-legged rescue, Mac- he is her true heart dog and the therapy dog she didn't know she needed. Her favorite thing about RRVH is our staff as they are friends to the core and what keeps her sane, or insane depending on the day! A fun fact about Dr. N is that she worked as an LPN for almost 20 years before changing her career path to Vet Med!

Carrie Erickson
Practice Manager
Carrie officially joined the team in 2005. She truly values teamwork and the shared mission of helping animals. She enjoys being part of a supportive and hardworking veterinary team. Her favorite part of the job is our team and seeing everyone’s pets. She also really loves seeing our positive effects in the community. She has a special interest in client and community education! Her favorite thing about RRVH is watching everyone on the team rally together when situations arise- she is very proud! When she’s not at the clinic, Carrie loves kayaking, camping, horseback riding, hunting, fishing and family get togethers. She has three dogs: Jack, Koda, and Henry. Two cats; Reba and Teigen. Horses: Lady + Windsor, 7 chickens and a tom turkey named Turk Turk! Carrie’s favorite animals include horses, dogs, and cats! A fun fact about Carrie is that she was the first Rodeo Queen at the Northern District County Fair Rodeo. She has also been presenting MVMA’s Dog Bite Prevention since 2009 with numbers reaching 8000 children or more!
Molly Hauner
Assistant Practice Manager/VT
Molly joined our team in 2019 and has been known for her calm presence in stressful situations. She truly enjoys problem solving and finding the best solutions for not only patient/client care, but staff as well. Molly combines medical knowledge with heartfelt compassion. She received her associates in applied science- Veterinary Technology. Her favorite part of the job is all of the different animals and cases we see every day! Her special interests include client education, surgery discharge and all things laboratory related! Molly’s hobbies outside of work include reading, spending time with her family, and caring for her chickens! She has two animals, Koozy the orange Domestic Longhair who is a great hunter and Cleetus the Cavalier Mix that loves to ride along in the Tractor and skid steer! Molly’s favorite animal is Cattle because she grew up around them and just really enjoys them. Her favorite animal rolls into Molly’s fun fact- she grew up on a REAL dairy farm in central Minnesota! Her favorite thing about working at RRVH is her coworkers!
Angie Heppner
Administrative Assistant
Angie joined the clinic in 1996 and has her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. She brings enthusiasm and a cheerful attitude to the team and values collaboration and the shared mission of helping pets. Angie’s favorite thing about her job is making everyone’s job easier and loving up on the pets and encouraging her owners. At home, she has a sweet Golden Retriever named Schatzi. Some of Angie’s hobbies include baking, reading, sewing, kayaking, and traveling! Her favorite animals are dogs because of their unconditional love. Angie’s favorite thing about RRVH is the staff and the joy of making the lives of animals and their owners better. A fun fact about Angie is that she enjoys making tasty treats.
Theresa Mosley, CVA
Technician
Theresa joined RRVH in 2007 after getting her AAS in Veterinary Assistant. She is known for her reliability and willingness to lend a helping hand. She finds fulfillment in supporting families through all stages of pet ownership. Her favorite thing about working at RRVH is the team environment and working with the public. Theresa’s favorite part about her job is the patient/client interactions, always learning something new, and loves that there is never a dull moment! She has a special interest in lab work, and client education in nutrition! When she’s not at the clinic, Theresa enjoys fishing, gardening, walking in the bush, and spending time with friends and family. She has two pets, Akira, a GSP mix born via C-Section here at RRVH and Shelby a DMH! Theresa’s has a couple favorite animals- Wolves because they are very majestic and the spiritual meaning behind them and Chinchilla’s; she helped raise and care for them when her uncle was a breeder! A fun fact about Theresa is she was born and raised in Canada, and she is a dual citizen!
Emma Reller, VA
Technician
Emma joined our team in 2022 and has created a positive impact in both the clinic and the community. She takes pride in clear communication and helping pet owners feel confident in their pet’s care. Her favorite part of the job is being able to help make a difference in the lives of our patients and clients. Emma’s special interests include marketing and labs! Her favorite thing about RRVH is always being able to see/learn something new every day and the friendships that have been created while working here. In her free time, Emma enjoys photography, hunting, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends. She has a mixed breed “step-daughter” named Hazel that lives with her grandparents! Her favorite animals are bats and cows! A fun fact about Emma is that she has owned a photography business since 2021.
Kalsie Barg, VA
Technician
Since joining our team in 2019, Kalsie has brought a strong attention to detail and commitment to excellent care. She always goes the extra mile to make things go smooth and stress-free! Her favorite part of working at RRVH is caring for all of the patients that come through the door. Kalsie’s favorite part of her job includes all things lab and surgery related- specifically setting IV’s, drawing blood, and “nasty” dentals. She loves making their teeth clean and helping give them a healthy mouth! She also really enjoys making clay pawprints. In her free time, Kalsie enjoys everything outdoors; hunting, four-wheeling, and painting! Her favorite season is fall! She has 3 pets; Ellie, a GSP mix who was actually born here at RRVH via C-Section which also happened to be Kalsie’s first C-Section! She also has Albacrombie, a DMH who she rescued after her first after hours emergency and Savv, a pitbull who had an enlarged heart from being fed a grain-free diet which has since gone down after getting a better food! Fun fact about Kalsie is all of her animals have been rescues! She chose Owls as her favorite animal because of how majestic they are. She also really loves all of the different feather combos they have and their big eyes!
Danielle Erickson, VA
Technician
Dani joined the team in 2018. She is passionate about continually learning and growing in veterinary medicine and thrives with taking on new challenges in vet med. Dani’s favorite part of the job is being able to help our furry family members and clients in their time of need. She has special interests in surgery and client education. She has lots of pets including Oakley a Great Pyrenees mix, Roo a DSH, Tom and Jerry the bunnies, Phoenix the beta fish, and Teddy the horse! Dani’s favorite thing about RRVH is the community that she’s’ been able to be a part of and all of the friendships she’s gained with clients and coworkers. In her free time, Dani enjoys horseback riding, reading, hunting, fishing, kayaking, baking, and sewing. Her favorite animal has been horses since she was a kid. A fun fact about Dani is that she has been ziplining and deep sea fishing in Alaska!
Denise Hall-Atchley, CSR

Aside from Dr. Hasbargen, Denise has been with us the longest joining the team in 1991! She appreciates the opportunity to build long-term bonds with clients and their pets. Denise is dedicated to providing a compassionate and understanding environment for our clients. Her favorite part of the job is being able to visit with clients about their pets. She used to really enjoy helping out in surgery when given the chance- especially C-Sections! Denise’s favorite thing about working at RRVH is getting to meet and love on all sorts of animals. In her free time, Denise enjoys reading mysteries, sewing/crocheting and watching her grandchildren play their favorite sports! She has a lovely English Springer Spaniel; Darlin’ Darla whose favorite thing to do is spend time outside and chasing balls! She also has a cat named Louie- who loves to snuggle and is Darla’s best friend! Denise chose Turtles as her favorite animal because they have fascinating behavior! A fun fact about Denise is that she is an artist! She has a large portfolio full of her drawings!
Ashley Barr
Ashley joined the RRVH team in 2025. She enjoys guiding clients through each step of their pet’s health journey. She brings creativity and dedication to every task, big or small. Her favorite part of the job is having the opportunity to make a difference and being able to see and learn new things each day. She has a special interest in patient care and client education! Ashley’s favorite thing about working at RRVH is working in a team and getting to take time to know patients and clients. In her free time, Ashley enjoys winter sports, hunting, fishing, boating, training dogs, and keeping aquariums and plants! She has two dogs; Logan and Koda, and three cats: Xanadu, Kati, and Shilo! Both of her dogs were sled dogs! Ashley’s favorite animals are fruit bats (because they’re adorable) and Belgian Malinois (because they look like fruit bats). A fun fact about Ashley is that she managed a mushing yard of 85 Alaskan Huskies. Her teams were 14x top 10 finishers in the Iditarod. They mushed all over the Northwest Arctic Borough above the arctic circle!
Zoey Zech
Zoey joined the team in 2025! She brings strong attention to detail and dedication to quality patient care. She finds joy in contributing to a positive clinic atmosphere. Her favorite thing about working at RRVH is the people. Her favorite part of the job is helping animals get better and people feel better. Zoey has a special interest in surgery and client education! In her free time, Zoey loves horseback riding, building Legos, doing puzzles and playing card games! She has two cats, Fred and Doug- and three horses: Squirt, Joe, and James! Zoey chose dogs as her favorite animal because of how sweet and comforting they can be! A fun fact is that she collects rocks and Lego sets!
Robert Dantona
Since joining the team in 2025, Bobby has approached each patient with empathy, patience, and a genuine love for animals. He believes in treating pets with kindness and respect at each visit. The thing that Bobby loves the most about his job is the time, care, and love he’s able to give to each animal, putting effort into all animal souls. He says he finally loves getting up to go to work every day. Bobby’s favorite thing about RRVH is the crew and the people he meets on a daily basis. When he’s not in the clinic, he enjoys many things including astronomy, aviation, photography/videography, painting, motorcycles, blacksmithing, comedy, music, and creative problem solving. He is drawn to big horned sheep as his favorite animal because they are calm and grounded until they’re challenged and resilient when pushed and always stands with grace and dignity. Some fun facts about Bobby include impressions, a quick-witted personality, and he has a (selective) photographic memory!
Rachel St. Mane
Rachel joined our Reception team at the end of 2024. She finds joy in comforting animals during their visits and believes that every pet deserves to be treated like family. The thing she loves most about her job is greeting the pets and being able to snuggle with puppies and kittens! Rachel has a special interest in hands on animal care. When she isn’t at the clinic, she loves bowling and floating on the water! She has four dogs, Eloise the Pitbull/”hippo”, Jango the Great Pyrenees/Basset Hound, Tinkerbell the Rottweiler mix and Woola the Pitbull! They are all rescues. Rachel’s favorite animal is a Pitbull- American house hippos or land seals as she likes to call them! A fun fact about Rachel is that she’s flown a plane!
Jenna Votaw
Since joining our team as a receptionist in 2025, Jenna has taken pride in contributing to a welcoming and caring clinic environment. She strives to make every client feel heard, supported and valued. Her favorite part of the job is being able to help humans care for their pets and meeting new animals, especially the babies! Jenna has a special interest in seeing all of the peculiar, out of the ordinary and unusual things that we see in vet med. When she’s not at the clinic, Jenna enjoys all things outdoors- especially fishing, bonfires, camping and floating in the river. She has two pups- Luna, the Boston Terrier who is the biggest snuggle bug and Furrgussen “Gus” the American Bully who is a sweet land hippo that loves spending time at the shack. Jenna’s favorite animal is the Orca Whale. She finds them majestic and intelligent. She has always wanted to study them in the open ocean, specifically in New Zealand. A fun fact about Jenna is that she is left-handed but right eye dominant.
